Students may choose one or two semester courses from The Arts learning area.
In this subject, students will gain skills and develop an understanding of two-dimensional art forms including drawing, painting, mixed media or aspects of IT. As part of the artistic process, students will represent 2D forms, analyse a range of works, reflect and evaluate their own work.
This subject may include units from the following areas based on student interest:
Drawing: experimentation with techniques, media and styles to incorporate continuous line, tonal rendering, contrast, composition and perspective. Students will encompass a recognition of skill development through observation, interpretation and imagination.
Painting: colour theory and colour schemes will be related to studies of painting techniques to enable students to develop an understanding of traditional and innovative painting methods.
IT: students may use Photoshop to develop or enhance artworks.
Students may be required to contribute towards the cost of tickets and/ or travel for an art exhibition as negotiated with the teacher. (Approximately $20.00).
