Music Advanced 1
This program is designed for students with a substantial background in music.
A level 4 or better in Year 10 Music.
Understanding Music, Creating Music, Responding to Music.
Through the study of music, students have the opportunity to engage in musical activities such as performing, composing, arranging, researching and developing and applying music technologies. Students benefit from the opportunity to develop their practical and creative potential, oral and written skills, and their capacity to make informed interpretative and aesthetic judgments.
Study and participation in music draws together students’ cognitive, affective and psychomotor skills, strengthening their ability to manage work and learning, and to communicate effectively and sensitively. This program is designed for students with a substantial background in music. Students wishing to study Stage 2 Music must complete a full year of Music Advanced.

Theory and aural
An understanding of the music software program Sibelius
Analysis & responding to Live Musical Performances.
Students hiring instruments from school will pay a hire fee of $40.00 per term. Students will also participate in a Band Tour to various country schools which will incur a fee of approximately $175 for transport and accommodation.
This course may involve attending a performance or event, which may be at some cost to the students (approximately $15.00).
Assessment Type 1:
Creative Works: At least 4 assessments are required for a 10 credit subject, 7 for a 20 credit subject.
Assessment Type 2:
Musical Literacy: At least 4 assessments are required for a 10 credit subject, 7 for a 20 credit subject.
