Stage 1 Physical Education or Stage 1 Sport Studies subject recommended but not required.
Literacy, Numeracy, ICT, Personal and Social, Ethical Understanding, Critical Creative Thinking, Intercultural Understanding.
Students studying this subject will be aiming to:
Acquire a deeper appreciation of physical activity as it relates to lifestyle and health both at the personal and community levels
Prepare for long term active participation in physical activity
Through Physical Education, students explore the participation in and performance of human physical activities. An integrated approach to learning in Physical Education promotes deep learning ‘in, through and about’ physical activity.
Students will acquire deeper understanding of physical activity, exercise physiology, sport psychology, skill acquisition, biomechanics and barriers to physical activity.
Assessment Type 1:
Diagnostics (15%) – Aquatics (Sailing) with a focus on Skill Acquisition and Stages of Learning. Assessment is 1500 words or 9 minute multimodal presentation. Diagnostics (15%) – Students participate in a sport (TBA dependent on student cohort), with a focus on collection and analysis of data in regards to Exercise Physiology concepts. Assessment is 1500 words or 9 minute multimodal presentation.
Assessment Type 2:
Improvement Analysis (40%) – Students plan and create a Training Program to improve fitness, which they then execute. Students must generate a portfolio of evidence, including research, analysis, reflections and recommendations. Assessment is 1500 words or 9 minute multimodal presentation which includes an evaluation, reflection and recommendations component.
Assessment Type 3:
External Assessment (30%) – Group Dynamics Task Students work in a group, they take on a variety of coaching and team roles. Students individually generate a folio of evidence detailing their participation and including evidence of them executing their role. Students are required to communicate and collaborate with their peers and evidence this in their portfolio. Assessment is 2000 word or 12 minute multimodal presentation.
