SACE Integrated Learning - Rowing focus
Year 10
Subject Information
Students in Year 10 or 11 can apply to undertake an Integrated Learning unit with a focus on coaching, practical development in rowing and reflecting on their own and peer performance.
Entry into the subject will be based on a short application process and previous performance in Year 9 HPE.
Subject Description
This course gains 10 credits towards their SACE. Students will undertake three main assessment focuses:
Practical exploration - 50%
Rowing performance and analysis - peer and self-assessment
Aquatic based activity - a choice of surfing, kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, snorkelling as agreed with the teacher.
Connections - 30%
Community Coaching - 'Come and Try' coaching sessions delivered to local primary school students
Developing Coaching Practice - Level 1 or Riggers course undertaken
Group collaboration task.
Personal Venture - 20%
Sport training focus, injury prevention, sports psychology
development of a capability.
Assessment - ongoing Journal, planning documentation, photos, teacher feedback, student and peer feedback, group evaluation.
Course Fees
$500 - includes SACE aquatics course, Spring Rowing camp (4-5 days), Rowing affiliation/Sports fees.
