Languages are a compulsory full year subject in Year 10.
The German language program focuses on developing student’s capability to communicate effectively in German and to reflect and explore cultural perspectives. Students further develop their intercultural understanding by making connections between Australian and German culture. Students also may participate in study tours/exchange programs which further expands their communication and intercultural experiences.
Students also broaden their skills in using digital technologies as they understand and create a range of visual, spoken and written texts.
Topics covered may include; communicating identity, the environment, youth issues, migration and settlement with a focus on Hahndorf, Enterprise German and the environment.
Bonus points are awarded for language study at Stage 2 as part of the SA Language, Literacy and Mathematics Bonus Scheme for entry into Flinders University, The University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia.
Students may participate in two excursions at an approximate cost of $30.00 per excursion and German Dictionary – approximately $25.00.
