Subject Description
The fundamental aim of Performance Health & Physical Education is to provide for involvement in physical activity in a way which promotes immediate and long term health benefits to the participant. This subject aims to extend students beyond that which is offered in the Core subject to provide greater opportunities to develop specific skills, knowledge and understandings relevant to Physical Education
Students will learn to:
appreciate and understand the value of physical activity and its relationship to a healthy active lifestyle
work to their optimal level of fitness
develop an understanding of the principles of Biomechanics and Skill Acquisition
complete investigations into sports science and apply knowledge to practical lessons
develop the major skills necessary to participate successfully in a variety of physical activities.
develop social skills and demonstrate the importance of teamwork and cooperation in group activities
demonstrate knowledge and understanding in a variety of physical activities and evaluate their own and others’ performance
