Subject Description
The fundamental aim of Performance Health and Physical Education is to use positive physical experiences to promote the importance of activity in improving short and long-term health. Students will develop further concepts related to tactical awareness, analysis of performance and exercise physiology.
Students wil learn to:
Appreciate and understand the value of physical activity and its relationship to a healthy active lifestyle
Develop their optimal level of fitness through fitness testing and conditioning programs
Develop a deeper understanding of the major skills necessary to participate successfully in a variety of physical activities
Experience enjoyment and satisfaction through physical activity
Develop social skills and demonstrate the importance of teamwork and cooperation in group activities
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding in a variety of physical activities and evaluate their own and others' performance
Identify and participate in a health unit which promotes self-confidence and cooperation
Critically assess and develop effective strategies and behaviours to promote safety.
Topics could include:
Teams sports - Softball, Korfball/Netball, Football codes or Volleyball
Individual sports - Badminton or Tennis
Aesthetic and International activities such as Dance or Sepak Takraw
Relationships and sexuality
Alcohol and drugs
Self-efficacy and mindfulness.
Course Fees
$80 - Participation in visits to AFL Max and Mega Adventure at West Beach.
