Creative Arts: Film B
Students who have completed either Media Arts: Digital Art or Media Arts: Film & Visual Effects in either Year 9 or 10 will have an advantage, but it is not required.

Students undertaking Film (Creative Arts) will begin their SACE Studies with a focus on developing understandings around various film theories (genre, codes and conventions, cinematography, motifs, symbols and themes) and their practical application through the creation of a short film.
Students will work in small production teams where emphasis is placed on filmmaking process (i.e. ideation, scripting, storyboarding, practising camera shots, etc.), product (i.e. development of visual effects, editing videos for public screening) as well as film theory. (narrative structure, elements of mise-en-scene)
Students will be will continue to develop advanced knowledge, understanding and skills using professional film equipment (DJI Osmo+, Nikon D5300) and software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects).
Students will be required to work both collaboratively and independently across a range of assessment tasks. Students with strong time management skills will have an advantage in this course.
Students undertaking a full year of Film at Stage 1 will have the opportunity to explore Film in greater depth across all assessment tasks.
Students will have the opportunity to enter their works in the NMHS Shortcuts Film Festival. Examples of students final work can be found on the schools YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/norwoodmorialtahighschool
Students must purchase a 4GB (minimum) SD card for storage of digital files.
Assessment Type 1:
Product: Students will create one product during the semester based on film/video.
Assessment Type 2:
Investigation: Students will investigate an example film and apply this knowledge to their product.
Assessment Type 3:
Skills Assessment: Students will create a 5-minute video based on the development of skills related to their product.
