STEM for Sustainability is a course based around the Concept 2 Creation, Wetlands Environmental Management (WEM) Challenge. The course will have a problem-based learning focus in which students will work in teams to design, engineer and build solutions to a real world science issue based on water management; they compete in a state wide challenge and showcase their solutions in a community expo at the end of the course.
Teams are also required to work with a local council, providing the council with a water quality report towards the end of the course. Besides the strong connection to science in the course, students will also acquire skills in working with engineering materials and tools, including a CAD system (Autodesk Inventor), laser cutters and 3-D printers.
Students may attend an excursion (approximately $20.00).
