In Digital Technologies S students create practical, innovative solutions to problems of interest. Students develop and apply their skills in computational thinking and in program design. They are encouraged to take ownership of problems and design, code, validate and evaluate their solutions.
In doing so, they develop and extend their understanding of designing and programming, including basic constructs involved in coding. It is organised into the following two Focus Areas: Programming and Data Analytics.
In Programming, students identify and deconstruct a problem, and develop and use code to design and test possible solutions. In Exploring Innovations, students apply their creativity and critical thinking skills to explore developments in digital innovations, develop ideas, and create digital solutions.
In Data Analytics students apply their computational thinking skills to analyse relationships in data sets, scope problems, and create solutions.
Assessment Type 1:
Project Skills: Provide evidence of learning in relation to computational thinking skills, design and programming skills (at least 1 task), and ethical considerations (at least 1 task).
Assessment Type 2:
Digital Solution: Develop a digital solution (a model or working prototype) using programming and applying project design skills, creativity and/or innovation.
