Visual Arts: Art

Assumed Knowledge

Students will be expected to have sound literacy skills.​

Prerequisites

Students must have studied art or design at Year 11 and achieved a ‘C’ grade or better. Students who do not meet these requirements must attend an interview with The Arts Coordinator and subject teacher.​

Subject Description

Students express their ideas through practical work using: drawings; sketches; photographs; and or audiovisual techniques leading to resolved pieces. Students have opportunities to research, understand and reflect upon visual art works in their historical and cultural contexts.

The broad area of Art includes painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography, audio visual works and or installations, ceramics, textiles, mixed media or video. Practical works will be resolved and may include a suite of works.

Additional Costs

Two A3 Folios. This course may involve attending an exhibition or event (approximately $15.00)​​​.

Assessment Type 1:

Folio: Students produce one folio of 40 A3 pages that documents their visual learning in support of their suite of works of art.

Assessment Type 2:

Practical: Students produce two practicals or a suite of resolved works of art. Two practitioners’ statements of 500 words one for each of the practicals or 1,000 words for a suite of works.

Assessment Type 3:

Visual Study: Students produce one visual study of 20 A3 pages and 2000 words based on research, analysis and the development of visual thinking and or technical skills.
